"you could you know"
"i could"
"then you should"
"could and should...very different"
"maybe we need a would in there?"
laughing.

betrayals
"Joy is the goal of existence, and joy is not to be stumbled upon, but to be achieved, and the act of treason is to let its vision drown in the swamp of the moment's torture."

pokey
"...and I miss you
and I wish you...
so far away from where you are
and standing under the same stars...
i miss the years...
i miss the way the sunlight lit up your face
i miss all the littles things...
I feel the beating of your heart
I see the shadow of your face
just know that where ever you are
yeah, I miss you...
and I wish you were here..."

Plan Bs
[H]e "had learned the inmost secret of the brave, who train themselves to contemplate in mind the worst that can happen and in thought resign themselves -- but in action resign themselves never."

...and happiness.
"We are those who do not disconnect the values of our minds from the actions of our bodies, those who do not leave their values to empty dreams, but bring them into existence, those who give material form to thoughts, and reality to values -- those who make steel, railroads, and happiness."

Success by Berton Braley
If you want a thing bad enough
To go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it,
If only desire of it
Makes you quite mad enough
Never to tire of it,
Makes you hold other things tawdry and cheap for it;
If life seems all empty and useless without it
And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,
If gladly you'll sweat for it,
Fret for it,
Plan for it,
Lose all your terror of God or of man for it,
If you'll simply go after than that thing that you want,
With all your capacity,
Strength and sagacity,
Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity,
If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt,
Nor sickness not pain
Of body or brain
Can turn you away from the thing that you want,
If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,
You'll get it!
To go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it,
If only desire of it
Makes you quite mad enough
Never to tire of it,
Makes you hold other things tawdry and cheap for it;
If life seems all empty and useless without it
And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,
If gladly you'll sweat for it,
Fret for it,
Plan for it,
Lose all your terror of God or of man for it,

It comes
down to an inability to process discomfort
inability to process pain
choosing blindness...denial to see, to feel, to be
instead of eyes wide open...accepting, moving through it

instead of eyes wide open...accepting, moving through it

"...surrender to nothing but logic."
"The man who declares, 'Who am I to know?' is declaring, 'Who am I to live?' " Did they care to live? -- she thought. They did not seem to care even for the effort of raising that question.

Indifference
the focus is on a single objective.
and there it should remain.
to keep the dialog simple, straightforward, honest.
posed with a question, "is this good","how do we feel about it", etc.
i don't want to answer. it's not relevant in this context. the contradiction in behavior will not be lost on me. it's predictable. and painful to watch.
a friend says, "like you too much to have this kind of thing get in the way"
i remind myself of the more important things.
i remind myself that the assignment of a whole to a small part is incorrect, unfair, an injustice of sorts.
"there is no reigning you in z...."
no.
~~~
She would say, "It is your responsibility to understand others Suzy--it will only help you to be exactly as you are."
The theme of "listening" ever present.
"Never assume you are smarter than anyone. Never."
Listen.
"Everyone just wants to be heard."
Listen.
"Wisdom is in listening. In the silence of your voice."
Listen.
~~~
Listening to chaos. To mayhem. To short-sightedness. To "good enough". And all of these that I have listened to...not one...not for a moment have wondered...have internalized...have made it their primary to listen.
And when we are forced to hear the pain of those who live the consequences of our making. When that full exposure comes. What will the answer be for the level of indifference shown?
I wonder what then. When that stifling silence and realization comes. With each little thing...the haunting and reliving, "We should have", "We could have".
...
There is no positive value derived from what is not.
Full disclosure and transparency allow for preparation, for education, for informing, for allowing others to feel secure. They want to be heard--let us at least show that we hear them, we acknowledge them, we have answers and not just confusion they are stuck to figure their way through.
