In San Jose now just chilling at my brother's house. I spent about an hour in front of the computer with a woman who works in the house using the translator. She speaks only Spanish and I only English...thus the translator. It worked pretty well and it allowed us to laugh a lot. Also, lunch is now possible beyond potatoes and rice.

I just looked at it again.... Steve arrives tomorrow morning. We are going to head straight there from the airport and I hope the drive will allow us to see some of the country. Steve has no plans other than to decompress as well, and maybe, "Take a surfing lesson and run the trails in the park." He also is going to snorkel...bringing his gear to leisurely flutter about. I look forward to waking in the morning, finding him fully rested after a long run and serving him coffee...the smile on his face in receiving his first cup of coffee for the day is priceless and makes me totally cheese.
I was tempted to buy a travel scrabble set in Dallas...I think I ought to have, but as we're so freakin competitive this might not be good unless we change the rules and add in slang. If slang is allowed he will probably win as he has his running lingo and I...just the corporate lingo which he is fluent in.
Steve leaves on the fourth and Riva arrives on the fifth. We know we want to go to the volcano and maybe some other destinations. She is looking to just relax as well for the most part. Riva is staying for a week...and then heads back. Some other friends are still debating and trying to coordinate...and though it would be good to see them...the quietude will be amazing just the same.
The only thing I want to achieve on this trip is the ability to stare out into space and be in the moment. How long will it take to do that?
