Jefferson called lastnight. Said he is enjoying it but 'hates' one class. 'I thought it was going to be about cutlure, social classes--it's basically biology and evolution.' He said he hasn't been studying very much and there is a lot of reading...also said he knew he needed to get with it. He said the other classes are going well--his grades are good and he is plugging away. Seems he has turned a corner and sounds like he is looking forward to our visiting. He laughed a lot which was good to hear.
Freddie worked out at Silliman with Max and Isaiah. They ran with the older kids and did well as a team. Interesting to see 8th graders hold their own with much older boys...and that sense of joy in them--the determination to strive toward a win. They did beat one set of older kids which is impressive to me as they were fundamentally sound--not just streetballers.
Steve wandered in sometime early this morning...all nighters again this week...and next...probably through mid-November. But he is excited about Yosemite and hiking in the high country. Will be a nice 24hr escape. Leaving Friday after Freddie's game and then will get back late Saturday evening so he can get to his Sunday soccer game. I think his **need** for soccer is back in full force...gets a lil down if he thinks he'll miss a game.
Whirlwind of activity continues.
