Surging

Work is insanely tedious...I've not a project that doesn't require gobs of data massaging...updating, categorizing, hours of this type of conversion...and my thoughts get lost in the effort. I found myself listening to music to give a beat to the tappity-tap of my fingers...to lend a lightness to the mundane. In time it will be clear that this effort is all worth it--in fact I guess today a simple breakthrough gave me great reason to smile ear to ear. Simplicity. Technology. And I wonder why we do not become mainstream adopters of even the easiest industry standard processes. We'll get there as a company...or maybe not. For now it's the continuous querying, the identifying the patterns, performing mass updates and then getting down to that population of row by row review....

I am heading to Phoenix on 5/6, pick-up a car and head to Texas. Plan to camp out, make some stops, take a lot of photos, and dilly-dally in a relaxing soak it all up kinda fashion. Monday I may end up at the El Paso site for meetings or all the way to Dallas. Unknown at this time. And it doesn't matter...will have Pema Chodron and my Execution CDs with me...so either way it works. On 5/11-5/13 I perform an audit of our off-site data management. Long days spend cataloging tapes...hours spent shaking one's head...and hopefully no amazing finds like 8 inch floppy disks or reels of magnetic media. Cost of storage, cost of data, cost of the zero and the one. If they really knew they were storing it on reels...if they really knew would they remain on reels...begs the obvious question. Anyway, poor tangent. [Boy wonder, no comments re the cost of zeros and ones...or the power of the zero or the one...hehe] After the audit, I head back to Phoenix. Not sure where exactly I am stopping yet, but will figure that out--all the places one missed on the way to Dallas might be a start but then need to be a little more finite than that. 5/16 I start the third session of my training...which will require that I am totally knowledgeable and fluent in the second week of training...ick...giggle...no have a study plan together already and actively pursuing that knowledge....and then Steve may come on Friday morning, we can drive to Tuscon--he can check out Univ. of AZ, and then we can drive to the Grand Canyon...camp Saturday night, get up early on Sunday--early enough for sunrise...hike around and then head back to Phoenix for our flight.

Time is fleeting...so much to do...seems incredible...and unbelievable. Making every effort to keep moving forward, to not get stuck, to keep a balance.

Looking forward to taking your silly butt to New Order this Friday. How funkadelic is that? And yes, I am going to buy you a concert t-shirt if they sell them...and then going to find some Vans with checkerboards...giggle!

I miss you Jae & J...someday hopefully you will forgive my absence...maybe not...unknown...but you are loved and thought about daily.
