Just returned from the Senior Awards ceremony. Jefferson won two awards. The first award was a scholarship in relation to overcoming adversity--a sense of exuberance in living, the Kefi Award. The second award was in relation to his senior thesis that covered Child Abuse and his efforts in his volunteer hours, presentations and passion for the subject.
Two summers ago, we introduced and gave Jefferson a tour of Fishburne Military School and Hargrave Military Academy due to his lack of commitment to his looking within and finding the discipline to live up to his potential. He asked for one more chance at home. The awards he has received tonight and his four semesters on the Honor Roll are incredible achievements for a boy who once upon a time planned to drop out of high school because it was "too hard".
Well done Jefferson. Well done.
