Jefferson returned from the Bahamas. Said it was totally enjoyable, but EC people are "squares". Uhm. Ok. Conversation sort of went from jet skis to behaviors of people and one's expectations of others. Finalized the convo with, "Hope you don't approach people at college with an expectation that they be just as everyone is in Fremont." And he gave me one of those looks that said, "I'm 17, not 12." lol. Hmm.
He heads out today to Tuscon for orientation. Spent some time going through the online information, seleceted classes and said, "I am taking classes in things that I am actually interested in...usual classes, but then those gen. ed. classes actually seem ok." He expanded on this saying he was interested in the "social economic thing"...which I think stems from seeing the level of poverty in the Bahamas...that there are far worse situations to be living in...that 'surviving' comes in different forms, but 'thriving' is rare.
Hiked Mission Peak lastnight and did a couple miles during lunch. Enjoyable, straining, but good to be outdoors.
Work continues. Lots to do. Finishing up one project, midstream on another, and getting to the core of another high impact one. We started a new unified effort on a specific area of the company. Visibility, customer impact and a need to correct...all good components, and with the blessings of our CEO--or directive. Lots o' pressure...but a welcome challenge.
