Grades

We met with Freddie's teachers today. He finished with with a 3.4 gpa...a huge improvement over the previous year. His test scores were even more impressive, raised by 25 basis points and he was tested as an 8th grader...so I imagine if he was tested at grade level, then the improvement would be even more dramatic. And this is all important, but most striking was that all of his teachers stated that he has learnt this year. He knows the material, he has exhibited leadership skills, he is internally motivated, he wants to do well ineverything he participates in. This is what we hoped for, this is where we wanted him focussed. To not be wrapped up in external expectations from friends and parents, but to have the drive from within to be who he is at his best.

I am very proud of him, beyond words.

Steve said, "We made a good decision--putting him here was a good decision." And for the first time I think since enrollment, I felt like I could breathe. I smiled at Steve, hesitant, but smiled. You wonder how it will all turn out, you wonder and second guess and struggle to be resolved with what you **think**...but the breathing again, it comes when you **know**.

Steve's eyes said it all, there was resolve there, peace and a sense that Freddie is on the right track personally, academically and athletically.
